Community Event 2: Thanksgiving/Harvest Festival

It's a little of A and a little of B. The food is present - gosh, is the food present. Isabelle made sure not to miss anything: turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, casserole, buttermilk rolls, cornbread, and those were just the normal options. Accommodations were made to diets like her own, and she even managed to get something for their more uniquely diet guest who would only subsist on coffee otherwise.

Besides the food, the hall has been decorated too thanks to her brother Digby and the Happy Home Academy. Festive fallen leaves decor with dark rugs, neatly hung drapes by the windows gathered into gold ropes, long tables with cream table cloths set with plates and silverware, and comfortable chairs colored yellow, orange, and red as they lined the tables.

"Okay, a piano if someone wants to play it, double string bass, speakers and... mhm! Beverages on that table, and laptop over there... that looks like everything! And right on time!"

Isabelle's beaming as she lowers her clipboard and fixes her tie - she really likes this Future Foundation suit. Bells jingling, she walks over to the main door which she knocks several times so they can be open.

"Welcome everyone and thank you for waiting! Come in and enjoy yourselves!"

[ so admittedly Kureha doesn't really have any idea what this holiday is supposed to be but there's food, friends and Isabelle made this happen so there really isn't any question of her turning up, is there?

She's even made a point of dressing up nicely, in her Future Foundation suit -- paws and ears still out of course, though. Don't question how she's holding food with them. Just don't.

Once she's downed some food and mingled a bit, she decides to take a turn at the piano when it's free and... yes, she's also playing piano with those huge paws of hers. It is a mystery.

[ Fun fact: Futo gets stupidly clingy once she's attached enough to a person. Kureha certainly qualifies.

Which means she gets grandma here divebomb-hugging her from behind at some point. ]

[ you know she'd expect a greeting like that from Haruka, not Futo -- but that doesn't mean she's not just as pleased to get it. admittedly, she does yelp a bit, mostly at being taken by surprise but when she cranes her head around enough to see who's just launched themselves at her, she gives a smile. ]

Nay, of course not.

[ letting go of her and stepping back ]

Tis good to see thee once more. Art thou familiar with this holiday...?

It's good to see you too, Futo. It's been too long.

[ admittedly, that's her fault since she doesn't keep up with the Future Foundation as much as she should but at least she's here now and ready to catch up. ]

Not really, no. We don't have a holiday like this back home, so I guess it's more something more from Isabelle's world...?

[ Eh, Futo can't blame her. Too busy with her own world, or bad memories, maybe--either one was reasonable enough. ]

She is quite enthusiastic about celebration, either way...dost thou think she ever allows herself a day off?

[ hahaha, a day off, that's funny ]

[Sudden Haruka.]

I've pretty much never even heard of this holiday, so I have no idea what to do. Is this the one where you watch sports, or is that Christmas? Tsukiyama-san said there was a parade, but we don't really have that here anyway.

To be honest, I have no idea. I guess it's something to do with autumn, going by the decorations, but... I don't think we have a holiday like it back home.

[ is she talking about Japan in general or yuri bear world. who knows. ]

I'm just glad to get a chance to see everyone again -- sorry Ginko couldn't come. She's still... not great with [ humans ] other people.

Us neither. I've never even seen half this food before, though. But it's good! Maybe I can help you smuggle back a leftover box for Gintan, since she's missing out.

Yeah -- I'll ask Isabelle if she wouldn't mind. There's plenty of food, so I don't think anyone'll miss out on anything I take.

[ and you know what

she's just gonna give you a big ol' hug because it's been way, way too long since she's seen you. ]

It's good to see you, Haruka.

[Haruka freezes for a moment, unsure, her face starting to turn red. This melts into a smile and she hugs Kureha back tightly.]

I missed you, Kurehan! Why does everyone have to live so faaaaaaaaaaar.

[As Kureha plays, Duster folds his arms on top of the piano and listens. He's only heard her once while dead, and he never got a good glimpse of how she got those large paws to play exact keys.

...It will forever be a mystery.

But for now, he enjoys listening to someone else perform while taking a break from the bass.]

[ instead of the kind of racket you'd expect to hear from someone with such huge paws at the piano, she's actually not half-bad -- she's playing Moonlight Sonata just a hair too slowly and a bit unsurely. She's kind of rusty, but bless her heart, she's trying.

eventually, she pipes up - ]

Has anyone else been playing much?

[Duster had closed his eyes to listen to her playing, and when she stops, they opens them halfway. Moonlight Sonata is song that makes him sleepy, and it takes him a moment to register Kureha's question.]

Hm? Oh, not yet. I think we were all busy eating and catching up. [His whiskers twitch and he rubs his eyes with the back of his hand.] I'll play once you're finished.

It has been a while. I guess everyone's been busy trying to settle in back at home again.

[ it'd been so long, after all -- it's not quite as simple as just going home and leaving it at that, especially after an experience like murder hotel. The SHSL Therapist had been doing his best, but there's only so much healing that can be done in so many months. ]

But it's been good to see everyone. I didn't even realize how long it'd been until I got here and saw us all together again...

How long has it been? Four months? [Not enough time to rebuild all of New Tazmily, barely enough to get situated with living at home with his old friends, but a long enough time to miss everyone he met at murder hotel.] It's hard to believe that half a year ago, we never met each other, and look at us now.

We've become close friends in two months.
