It's the end of the summer in Kalos and the Future Foundation outpost has generously decided to host a beach get-together for the survivors of the previous rounds of Dangan Roleplay. With a day full of beach fun followed by a night watching the nearby summer festival's fireworks, there's plenty of opportunities to meet up again and have fun with friends and pokémon.

Yeah, he and I talked. I apologized. He did, too. When we were all in there without you guys, I remembered something he said and it helped us out a couple times. So... [sigh] Yeah.

Ehehe. Yeah, he's all "inappropriate!" and stuff. Like a dad, you know?

[He puts a hand to his chin, deeply considering it.]

It'd scare off anyone that'd try to hurt you. Besides, I think you'd look cool. You don't need to be as buff as Wash or Tucker.

What did you apologize for? You didn't do anything wrong...

[Duster smiles and shrugs.] He is a dad, after all.

I freaked out at him and told him to go die. Remember? [She cringes as she says it.] ...I wasn't at my best. Just thinking about stuff I didn't want to face.

Yeah. And he's like that to all of us, too. I didn't know how to deal with that back then, but it's nice.

[mindofathief]

Oh. I remember. [His face falls.It was an emotional trial, the most intense he had experienced.] I wasn't all that surprised by it. By the end, I think everyone hated him.

[He adds quickly:]

...It's still nice you wanted to apologize!

Poor guy. He just wanted things to be okay for him, just like me. I was the type who'd throw other people away for that, too. Maybe that's why I kept thinking about the stuff he said. ...I'm glad you guys became friends, you know? You both look a lot better off.

[mindofathief]

[Her sympathy surprises Duster, but it manifests as briefly raised eyebrows.]

Having someone you can talk to helps, I guess. You've definitely had it worse than him, but magic users in his world are taught to never trust anyone, especially other magi. ...He really thought that everyone here was capable of betraying their friends.

[He sits up and scoots closer to Haruka. It's getting chillier.]

I'm still surprised he's so much nicer. Not that he's still kind of arrogant, but he's a completely different person when we hang out.

I guess he was right, too. I could've done it. [leans] But we're all better people now, I think. I'm glad.
