Community Event 1 : Kalos Beach Party

Hit the beach!



It's the end of the summer in Kalos and the Future Foundation outpost has generously decided to host a beach get-together for the survivors of the previous rounds of Dangan Roleplay. With a day full of beach fun followed by a night watching the nearby summer festival's fireworks, there's plenty of opportunities to meet up again and have fun with friends and pokémon.

[Haruka's doing a few different things around the beach today. She's set down at the picnic food and brought a small picnic box with some boiled eggs (flawless) and some fried... mass of something that was probably some kind of vegetable in another life (and is now a charred ruin). Feel free to share your own food around as well, this is a party! Just... try to avoid the non-egg part of her box.

Later, she'll be swimming in the -- what are you wearing. Okay, apparently the Tacky Clothing Ordinance is still in effect and applies to swimsuits. She's less concerned about that than she is about diving for weird things and looking for fish, though.]

Look, look, there's a school of Horsea out there! Think we can get in closer and see them?

[When it gets darker, she's put on a baggy shirt over her swimsuit and starts helping to pack up the picnic site. After that, it's up the hill to the fireworks.]

I haven't seen one of these shows in ages... Well, aside from this one time, but that's different.

[She has a conspiratorial smirk at that.]

For real? [Treading water, he cranes his neck to try and see the Horsea. Is he still Hatman without a hat, Haruka?] Yeah, let's go!

Yeah, yeah! [Point point.] Okay! So we're probably going to have to go quiet, right?

[Sneaking... Haruka, do you actually know how to sneak when swimming? I don't think you do.]

[ sup haruka did you miss grandma because she sure missed you

a few of these guys approach and start dancing around her shoulders while she's unpacking that picnic box. ]

Whoa! [clap clap] Fuu-chan's little friend things, right? You want something? Wait, do they even eat...

[Supervision isn't required, but it's a party being sponsered by the Future Foundation. There needed to be some responsible persons present so they rung her up. The doctor's not one for swimming, but she'll agree, there needs to be a change of scenery sometimes... and it was an opportunity to see some of the others again. They really didn't stop by often enough.]

[So, she makes sure the umbrellas are raised, that towels and sunscreen are both available for the others when they decide to run out into the sun and water; she also brought a medical kit, but she would like to avoid using it. There's certainly enjoying themselves, but they have to be careful.]

[She settles in under one umbrella, seating herself on her towel and a beach chair with a book in hand. Sunglasses rest on her forehead, the sheer chiffon cover-up leaving strapless black bikini visible, but further helping protect pale skin from sand and sun. Naomi's really just planning on reading and monitoring everyone, but if she's invited out, she'll have to get some sunscreen on first. Though, if anyone wants to play with her Pokemon, they seem up to it... except for Angela lying next to her trainer.]

[When it's time for the fireworks in the evening, she shifts from chiffon top to sarong tied at her hip and jacket, leaving the zipper open. She smiles at the colors burst in the sky. It's been a while since they've seen fireworks, and as deafening as they can be, even she finds them fun to watch.]

Mom, are you in the sun? Are your toes in the sand? I never thought I would see the day...

[ Anna's soaking wet, herself, but she's taking a break from hanging out in the water to drop by and bug her favorite pathologist... ]

What are you reading so intently there?

It's a novel one of my recent patients recommended. It's not terrible, but it's more inclined to a true romantic.

[Good thing this wasn't a beach party surrounded by other trainers; she didn't want to cause that whole mess again. Also, there was no way Isabelle could pass a chance of seeing everyone again and getting to go to the beach. Weirdly enough, the Mayor was okay with letting her go. Well, she would try to be back early so he didn't handle everything alone.]

[So, the little Secretary is here in a stripped one-piece which she thought looked cute. Out of the water, she's wandering the beach, getting confused while trying to find seashells, or helping prepare the food. In the water, gosh, everyone better know they might be up for a race. She's small, but she's surprisingly quick, startling even a few Pokemon as she darts past with a beaming grin.]

[In the evening, after helping pack up, she stands with everyone watching the fireworks, but keeps from getting noticed. Fireworks can always be really loud, but she just loves them! And what a great way to end the day.]

This is great, Isa-chan! I mean, everything you make is great, but you know. Did you try the lunchbox I brought?

Well, I do usually help take care of the festivals and other celebrations back home!

I did. The egg was very tasty! Though, there was some problems with the... vegetables...?

[Harvey just wandered over looking for a snack, but he smiles upon seeing her.]

Isabelle! Hey, how ya been?

[itsabelle]

[She turns over some of the skewers on the flames before beaming up at Harvey.]

I've been great! Thank you for asking! What about you, Harvey?

[Ah yes, beaches. Ideal for relaxing with friends, and that's what Duster mostly does. He tosses his shoes and socks somewhere far from the rest of the supplies (so no one will have to risk smelling them), rolls up his pants, and stands in the water, breathing in the salty air and watching the waves. Once on a while, he changea the song on the music player to something he likes: classic rock.

When that gets boring, he takes a walk up and down the length of the beach on the wet sand. He brought swimming trunks in case of an emergency, but as long as no one drags him into the water, he's not changing.

As evening rolls around, Duster helps with packing up for a few minutes before deciding that the fireworks are more interesting and lies on his back to watch the.]

Anikiii! [She plops right beside him and sits up, watching the fireworks.] This is fun, right, right? I'm really glad so many of us were able to come.

[ It's Kalos, a party and murderschool family so of course Sonico is here.

She's dressed for the occasion, bringing with her a bundle of lunches that she sets with the picnic food. There's kind of a lot of them this time around so she figures the more food the better.

She'll give swimming a shot, but she's not too brave about it and only gets up to her chest in the water and decides that's as deep as she's going to go. Kalos oceans might not be full of things to stand on underwater but it's still been forever since she last went swimming.

Come evening and the fireworks, she finds herself a nice spot on the hill to watch, bundled up in her coat to fight the cold. She's watching the display with a warm smile on her face that looks a little nostalgic and maybe a bit bittersweet, but other than that, she's very clearly happy and relaxed. ]

[This will be the first time Maya and Sonico have met in person. At the reunion party, they hit it off over skype-- seriously, Maya had hogged the computer for like an hour so they could talk together, and they'd exchanged messages since then and-- really. They're friends already.

So when she arrives and spies Sonico there at the party, Maya is extra excited.]

[She calls from a few yards away, waving her hand as she runs over.]

[ ... so Kureha's never been to a beach party before. Honestly, she's not... entirely sure what to expect. At least she's dressed properly though, with her hair tied up neatly into a pair of whip-tight twintails that perk up just beside her floofy bear ears. spoiler alert -- she may have done this on purpose.

she spends a good bit of the day exploring the beach like a curious little kid, collecting shells, climbing all over the rocks and building little sand mounds that... might have been sandcastles that she started and then got too embarrassed to finish. Do your best, Kurehan.

A bit later in the afternoon, she takes to swimming and diving like a... well, a bear to water. she looks like she's aiming to collect some bits of Kalosian fauna and some shells to take back as souvenirs.

And you might have spotted her like this once or twice during the day, but come the fireworks, Kureha seems to have fursploded back into smol bear form and is evidently a bit worn out. Because she manages to keep her eyes open for the fireworks show but after that? Yeah, she's napping. ]

Kurehan, you're doing great! [The neon nightmare is waving happily with a Psyduck perched on her head with a vacant stare.] Find anything cool? Weird plants or anything?

[At some point during the evening, a wild Chansey appears!]

Chan~ [She leans over to look at the little bear. You're not a Pokemon, right?]

[This is Maya's first time at a beach, actually-- but that doesn't mean she isn't dressed for the fun and completely not bothering to cover up any scars. She's super excited to see everyone again, and a beach party sounds perfect. It's a new experience that she's absolutely overjoyed to join in.

Most of the time you'll find her wandering the beach, trying to catch up with everyone-- but later on, you might have to join her in the water. Other times, she might be tailing after beach pokemon like clamperl, trying to get a better look at them.

For the fireworks she'll be right at the shore, bundled up in a sweater and grinning. This is a party.]

Snap out of it, Duster, you have a girlfriend! Maya's taken...he thinks.

Actually, why is he staring at her from the beach? He steps into the water, wearing his clothes sans shoes and socks and waves at her.]

Who the fuck is this

It looks like Harvey Finevoice, but he's wearing casual beach clothes. They're nice and fit him well, of course. He still has taste. But his tux and black fedora are just completely gone.

He spends a lot of his time swimming. He's pretty good at swimming, and he hasn't gone to the beach in a long time. It's fun to get out there! When he isn't doing that, he's walking the beach, mostly staying in the surf and looking for Pokemon. No Pokeballs in hand; he just wants to watch them and maybe take some pictures.

By the evening, he's cleaned himself up and dressed more like himself to sit and watch the fireworks. He's not quite sitting near anybody, but he's got a Chansey watching quietly with him.]

[Haruka's clashing nightmare of a swimsuit covered up by a baggy shirt, she plops down on the grass, followed by a dim toddling Psyduck that's munching on seaweed.]

Duster quickens his pace and catches up to Harvey, still wearing his shirt and pants, which are rolled up.]

I haven't seen you in months! How you've been?

[Goddamn, he's super excited to see you again, he missed you, what are you looking at? He follows Harvey's gaze.]
